Get some sleep

This is going to seem like a strange goal for the week. But my goal is literally to get more sleep. Sometimes I’ll get in bed at 1 AM and not even think about the fact that I am getting up in 4.5 hours until the next day around 2 PM when I crash. This has been going on for months now and it’s just getting silly.

As you can imagine, this isn’t the best thing for my work life or career. I find it so difficult to think creatively and focus when I feel my eyes could close at any minute.

So yes. I want to work to get more sleep this week. I think that means timing myself for surfing the web, staying productive and just making myself get in bed around 10:30 or 11 PM to read a little before the lights go off.

I’ve read in the past and recently that people who get 8 hours of sleep a night are more productive, eat healthier, have better more efficient work outs and well they probably look better too. Plus, how can I be living intentionally if I’m too tired to get up and make myself a cup of joe?

With that said… good night.

  1. That’s a totally legit goal! I know if I don’t get enough sleep, I crave unhealthy foods and feel like I could have an emotional meltdown at the slightest problem that comes my way. Oh, and of course I also look like a corpse/Kristen Stewart. I have no idea how in my early twenties I could stay out til 2, then get up at 6 and be all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Brace yourself…the difference between your early twenties and your late twenties is so (SO) big in this regard!

    1. I believe it! Sleep was more of a luxury in college than a necessity! Lemme tell ya, I got 8 hours last night and feel so amazing today.

  2. I experience lack of sleep to but don’t seem to feel tired which is strange, only sometimes I do feel drained physically and emotionally. And I love this blog post, it makes me think about my very little sleep regime I have going.

    1. I totally know what you mean. I’ve gone on a run before after getting just 4 hours of sleep and get so mad at myself when I can’t run more than a few miles without walking! I’m glad it encouraged you to think about your sleep regime too! Just talking about sleep makes me want to get some more.. 😉
